The latest version makes a feature of the striking contrast between the heartwood and sapwood of Yew, which I have always admired, but have never before seen used in furniture without looking rustic.
My solution was to saw the yew lengthwise to open it out into a mirror-image “book-match”.
Most people who have seen it admire the way in which the design is led by the shape of the wood, but not totally subservient to it.
This design is limited to ten, although every version is necessarily as unique as the wood obliges.
